Bullguard Review – Is it Worth the Price?

Bullguard is a powerful security suite that covers all basics. It’s not as robust as the other options but it’s a great option for users seeking a more value from their antivirus software. It’s also extremely efficient by avoiding the burden of heavy load on the system while providing a variety of options to reduce it when it is needed.

The program opens to a modular hub app that has a tiled layout for its various modules, including antivirus, firewall as well as PC tune up, game booster and home network scanner. Users who want to monitor their system for vulnerabilities will be delighted with the “Vulnerabilities” section, which will alert them to issues like missing Windows updates autostart services, open ports. Gamers will find the “Game Booster” feature useful, as it will detect when you’re playing and automatically optimize your system.

In our tests, bullguard was pretty effective at preventing malware infections, and was fairly low on system resources compared to most competing products in terms of CPU usage. However we did notice the antivirus’s background processes took up quite a bit of RAM, especially when the system has limited memory. When viewing a high-resolution monitor the hub app appeared pixelated.

Bullguard’s Premium Protection subscription offers an app for mobile devices that offers parental controls, antitheft and basic backup support for your smartphone or tablet. However, the application is quite basic and doesn’t come with essential features such as security for your webcam or shredders of files. The only way to contact phone support is via live chat or email.
